5)Genèse 22:1-18
ABRAHAM aimait Dieu. Il aimait aussi Isaac, le fils de sa vieillesse. Mais il dut affronter une épreuve défiant ses instincts paternels lorsque Dieu lui demanda de sacrifier Isaac, qui avait peut-être alors 25 ans. Cet épisode ne se solda pas par la mort d’Isaac. Au moment crucial, Dieu intervint par l’intermédiaire d’un ange. Ce récit biblique, rapporté en Genèse 22:1-18, fournit un aperçu prophétique du profond amour que Dieu nous porte.“
Dieu mit Abraham à l’épreuve ”, lit-on au verset 1. Abraham était un homme de foi, mais sa foi allait être à présent éprouvée comme jamais elle ne l’avait été. Dieu lui dit : “ S’il te plaît, prends ton fils, ton fils unique que tu aimes tant, Isaac, et [...] offre-le en holocauste sur l’une des montagnes que je t’indiquerai. ” (Verset 2). Sachant que Dieu ne permet pas que ses serviteurs soient éprouvés au-delà de ce qu’ils peuvent supporter, cet ordre montre toute la confiance qu’il avait en Abraham
